Cookies can have different characteristics in terms of time and therefore can be considered based on their duration (session or permanent), or from a subjective point of view (depending on whether the publisher acts autonomously or on behalf of the "third party"). However, the classification that mainly responds to the user's protection needs is the one based on two macro categories:
technical cookies, used for the sole purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication on an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the contractor or the user to provide such service" (see art. 122, paragraph 1 of the Italian Privacy Code); these cookies can be installed on the user's terminal without the user's consent, based, depending on the case, on the need to process a request or on the legitimate interest of the Company;

Cookies can also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of an information society service provided by a publisher, for the design of a website or to help measure its "traffic", i.e. the number of visitors, possibly divided by geographical area, time slot of connection or other characteristics. Such identifiersificative, defined as analytics cookies, can be included in the category of technical cookies, and as such be used in the absence of prior acquisition of the interested party's consent, when the following conditions occur:
they are used only to produce aggregate statistics and in relation to a single site or a single mobile application;
for third-party cookies, at least the fourth component of the IP address is masked;

2. DATA PROTECTION RIGHTS
